Oktoberfest aboard Lufthansa

German flagship carrier Lufthansa has announced that it will continue its long tradition of Trachtencrew flights this year in a tribute to Oktoberfest, although the world famous Munich beer festival will not be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lufthansa guests traveling to New York and some European destinations will experience a taste of Oktoberfest. From 21 to 25 September, they will be greeted on board by cabin crew in traditional costumes.

Flights of "Trachtencrew" with crew members dressed in folk costumes began in 1957. In 2006, the airline relaunched the program on flights to New York. Since then, the crews of Lufthansa Trachtencrew have served passengers on 25 destinations: China, Japan, India, the USA and Europe. The traditional Bavarian dirndl costume was created for them by the famous Munich designer Angermeier.

In September, Lufthansa guests can enjoy traditional Bavarian dishes: leberkes, cabbage, potato salad, fried almonds, pretzels. Trout with Bavarian cream awaits for business class passengers. And for everyone - the famous light beer. Prosit!
