Lufthansa, Europe's largest aviation concern, announced in November that Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines are launching a new catering offer for Economy Class passengers on short and medium haul flights.
Starting in the spring of 2021, guests will be able to buy fresh, high-quality food and drinks on board, and the regional flavor will be the highlight of the project.
The new assortment of food and beverages has been compiled in accordance with the highest quality standards and customer requirements. The use of environmentally friendly products and packaging is guaranteed, with particular attention paid to reducing food waste in the production process.
“The current food situation in Economy Class does not always live up to the expectations of our guests,” acknowledged Christine Foerster, Member of the Lufthansa Group Executive Board, Customer Relations. "The new proposal was developed based on the feedback from passengers."
The new menu options, which will be available for pre-order, will replace the standard free snacks on board. The program is planned to be implemented in stages, first on Austrian Airlines flights, then on SWISS and Lufthansa.
