Flight nostalgia is becoming a global trend and more airlines are opening ground-based retail outlets.
Austrian Airlines style aficionados can shop for brand-name items from the airline at a new temporary store in central Vienna. Following the successful relaunch of its online store in autumn 2019, the Austrian airline is now selling its red, white and red branded goods in collaboration with the capital's Strictly Herrmann store.
“Since there are not enough passengers at Vienna International Airport during the pandemic, we decided to land in the center of Vienna,” explained Amir Agamiri, brand manager for Austrian Airlines. "We plan that the temporary store will be open at least until the Christmas holidays."
The airline expects the best-selling face masks at € 14.90 and Austrian Airlines' signature souvenir, the Badeente duck, for € 6.95, to be best sellers at its downtown retail outlets.
The airline owes the design of the famous duck to its loyal passengers, who have collected rubber ducks while traveling around the world and stacked them in a row at Vienna Airport.
